Summer Bucket List for Kids | Simple and Fun Summer Activities

June 28, 2021

It is officially Summer Vacation over in our household! That of course means we need to make our summer bucket list for kids to complete before the summer is over!

We already do the 1,000 hours outside challenge and are almost done with our first year and first 1,000 hours! I would highly recommend trying it out yourself because it has been remarkably beneficial for our family in more ways than one.

After sitting down and thinking about everything I wanted to do with my kids this summer (from a parent perspective) and then asking my kids what they had hoped to do this summer we came up with a great big summer bucket list. With the goal being to have completed it all by the time their new little sister arrives at the end of summer!

Simple and Fun Color mixing Activity for Kids

May 31, 2021

color Mixing Activity

Somedays you just need to have a fun activity to do with your kids.  This Preschool Color Mixing activity is definitely one of them.

My daughter is obsessed with everything artsy and this activity did not disappoint. It’s such a fun twist on the typical “mix the paint” situation!

Keep in mind this activity takes a bit of prep work because you will need to have it freezing the night before you use it, but it was a hit with the kids!

Easy Bird Feeder | Fun Kids Activity

May 10, 2021

Easy Bird Feeder

Who loves it when your able to spend time playing with your child and have them be simultaneously learning as you do it? I know I do, that’s why I’m such a fan of this Easy Bird Feeder Activity to do with your kids!

Making the everyday a learning opportunity for my kids became a major Mom Goal for me. I always learned better with the hands-on approach growing up.  Once my daughter was old enough it became clear this was also how she learned best. So, I try to incorporate fun hands-on learning activities into our daily lives.

Sometimes they are super simple like sorting out silverware (this helps me too because I’m getting the kids involved in cleaning).  Other times It’s fun activities that take some prep-work and planning ahead of time.

This was an activity that was fun to create, but also fun to watch as birds came and visited the feeder!

How to Actively get your Kids Cleaning Up

May 6, 2021

Kids Cleaning Up

Trying to clean the house with kids can be exhausting, especially little ones.  Figuring out how to get your kids cleaning up the house with you can also be difficult, but once you do, actually getting the house clean becomes much easier to do.

We’ve all been there as parents, when a room was cleaned just in time for someone to dump a bunch of blocks onto the floor to build a castle.  Or, we let the kids completely occupy themselves in the living room just so we can get the kitchen clean, which inevitable leads to the living room being a disaster zone.

It happens.

Why is it important to get the kids involved?

Aside from helping with your own sanity, getting the kids involved in cleaning the house helps them feel accomplished.  It’s like setting goals and achieving them.

C-Section Awareness Month | How I Ended up With an Emergency C-Section

April 3, 2018

C-Section Awareness Month

Hello Everyone!

Many mom’s expect to feel the comradery between other moms when they first join the motherhood club.  However, I also joined the C-Section Mama club when my daughter was born.  So in honor of C-Section Awareness Month I wanted to share my labor and delivery story, because nothing about a C-section is easy.  However, despite this being an unpopular opinion, in many cases like mine, it is needed.

I want to start by saying that I ended up with an emergency C-Section and the events that led to this resulted in my daughter being born not breathing.  Thankfully (as she just turned two) they were able to get her to start breathing on her own.  Non-the-less I wish I would’ve advocated for myself much better during this entire ordeal.

How to Make Your Own Baby Food | Do It Yourself Homemade Baby Food

How to make Homemade Baby food

Hello Everyone!

So I may very well be the odd ball here, but I LOVED making my own baby food. So I decided to post about How to make Homemade Babyfood! It saved me money and allowed me to know exactly what was in the food I was giving my daughter.  This doesn’t mean I never gave her store bought baby food, because eventually I did, but I was very proud when I was the one who made her baby food.

I started baby girl with solid foods at around 6 and a half months old. Up until then (aside from a two week stint on formula because of her hospital stay) she was exclusively on breast milk.  This is something I am incredibly proud of.  Much more so than I ever expected to be once I entered into motherhood.

But like all babies eventually solid foods needed to be introduced.  I knew before she was ever born that I wanted to make her baby food.  So once my husband and I decided to start solids I went to work! [Read more…]
