Do It Yourself Moana Themed Birthday Cake | Disney Birthday Cake Ideas

February 16, 2018

Hello Everyone!

My daughter loves Moana! She sings and dances to all of the songs, it’s so cute.  So when her birthday rolled around the theme was Moana (Shocker right?!).

I have always had this thing with wanting to make cakes for birthdays.  Long before I was ever pregnant I knew I wanted to make all of the cakes for my kids. I made my daughter’s first Birthday cake and even her cake smash cake.

So here is how I made the cake! Some links in this post are affiliate.

1. I started with making the cakes for the tiers.  Two cakes per tier and then frosted both tiers with white frosting.

2. Then I used a cookie that resembled bamboo to put along the outside of both tiers of the cake.

3. Stack the tiers.

4. Add blue icing to make it look like a waterfall.  If you watch the video below I patted a knife on the icing to make it look like water falling.

5. Add moss to the sides of the waterfall.

6. Add brown sugar to the top of the cake to make it look like sand.

7. Add the Moana Figurines. These are the ones I used.
